Below is an outline of the anticipated construction schedule and associated lane closures for work on the US 301 Mainline Project during the next week.

Monday, January 28, 2019, through Friday, February 1, 2019 – Dayshift

Continue bridge construction activities on Boyds Corner Road (SR 896). Motorists should anticipate an eastbound or westbound lane closure on Boyds Corner Road (SR 896) west of Cedar Lane with traffic alternating through the work zone utilizing a flagging operation by construction personnel from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Motorists should anticipate a single lane closure on Bunker Hill Road from the bridge over the new US 301 alignment to the roundabout at Chop Tank Road from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for curb and gutter construction.

Motorists should anticipate a single lane closure on Summit Bridge Road from Boyds Corner Road to Springmill Drive from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for excavation and topsoil placement.

Motorists should anticipate a single lane closure on US 301 northbound and southbound from the Maryland State Line to the Delaware Weigh Station from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for stormwater management pond construction.

Motorists should anticipate a single left lane closure on either US 301 northbound and southbound from the Levels Road Interchange to the Delaware Weigh Station from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for removal of temporary roads.

Monday, January 28, 2019, through Thursday, January 31, 2019 – Dayshift

Motorists should expect a single left lane closure on SR 1 southbound from the Roth Bridge to Biddles Toll Plaza from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for median drainage work.

Monday, January 28, 2019, through Thursday, January 31, 2019 – Nightshift

Motorists should expect a double left or right lane closure on SR 1 southbound from the Roth Bridge to Biddles Toll Plaza from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. for installation of overhead signs and barrier wall.

Detours and Roadway Closures

The new US 301 alignment was opened to traffic and tolling on January 10, 2019 from the Maryland State Line to SR 1 in both directions including exits at Jamison Corner Road, the Connector Road to Summit Bridge Road, and Levels Road.

The Stadium/Bus lot and secondary driveway at St. Georges High School is closed to all traffic until further notice except during morning drop off and school dismissal times Monday through Friday. All other vehicles entering/exiting at any other time should use the main entrance to the high school.

Motorists should expect intermittent single right or left lane closures on SR 1 Southbound from the Roth Bridge to Biddle’s Toll Plaza from 9:00 AM until 3:00PM for cleanup work.

Motorists should expect intermittent single or double right or left lane closures on SR 1 Northbound from Boyd’s Corner Road to the Roth Bridge from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM to remove overhang brackets on the new US 301 Northbound bridge.

Motorists should expect a single right lane closure on US 13 Southbound from Lorewood Grove Road to Port Penn Road from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM for work associated with the concrete barrier wall on the right hand shoulder.

Friday, January 25, 2019:  Dayshift

Motorists should expect a single right lane closure on US 13 Southbound from Lorewood Grove Road to Port Penn Road from 9:00 AM until Noon for work associated with the concrete barrier wall on the right hand shoulder.

Motorists traveling eastbound on Hyetts Corner Road should turn right at US Route 13, follow US 13 to Boyds Corner Road and turn right, follow Boyds Corner Road to Jamison Corner Road and turn right, follow Jamison Corner Road through the roundabout and back to Hyetts Corner Road.

Media Advisory for US 301 Opening

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that the new US 301 mainline will open to traffic on Thursday, January 10, 2019. The nearly 14 mile road will be opening in stages beginning after the morning rush hour with the new southbound lanes opening first.

For the safety of motorists and members of the media, a designated viewing area will be available for photo and video opportunities at the Warwick Road overpass of the new roadway located just to the west of the existing US 301 and Levels Road intersection (Royal Farms is located on the southeast corner of the intersection). Parking will be permitted on the shoulder of the overpass and safety vests are recommended.

C.R. McLeod, Director of Community Relations for DelDOT, will be at the location and available to answer questions beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Motorists should anticipate a single right or left lane closure on SR 1 Southbound between Biddle’s Toll Plaza and the Roth Bridge from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM for completion of the US 301 SB Tie In.

Motorists should anticipate a single right lane closure on US 13 Southbound between St. George’s Bridge and Port Penn Rd from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM for construction of roadside barrier.

Motorists should anticipate a lane shift on the newly opened ramp to SR 1 Northbound from 9:00AM to 4:00PM for striping and clean up activities.

Sunday, January 06, 2019 through Wednesday January 09, 2019: Nightshift

Motorists should anticipate a double right or left lane closure on SR 1 Southbound between Biddles Toll Plaza and the Roth Bridge from 10:00 PM until 5:00AM for removal of the overhangs on the new bridge over SR 1.

Monday, January 07, 2019, through Friday, January 11, 2019: Dayshift

Continue bridge construction activities on Boyds Corner Road. Motorists should anticipate an eastbound or westbound lane closure on Boyd Corner Road, west of Cedar Lane with traffic alternating through the work zone utilizing a flagging operation by construction personnel from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

Motorists should expect single lane closures with flaggers directing traffic in both directions on Jamison Corner Road from Hyetts Corner Road south through the new US 301 interchange from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM.

Motorists should expect single lane closures with flaggers directing traffic in both directions on Jamison Corner Road from Hyetts Corner Road south through the new US 301 interchange from 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM.
