Route 26 Project Update

Below is the anticipated work schedule and associated lane closures for work on the SR 26 Mainline Improvement Project along with suggested alternate routes for those of you who wish to bypass the SR 26 corridor.

Please be advised that there is a considerable amount of construction activity scheduled for next week.  Use of the alternate routes is strongly suggested.

Travel times to and from your destination may be quicker if you use one of the SR 26 Alternate Routes that were constructed prior to the start of the SR 26 Mainline Construction Project.

The recently reconstructed roadways include:

  • Burbage Road, from SR 17 to Windmill Drive
  • Windmill Drive to SR 26 to Central Avenue
  • Central Avenue, from Windmill Drive to Beaver Dam Road
  • Beaver Dam Road, from Central Avenue to Muddy Neck Road

 

Below is an outline of the anticipated construction schedule and associated lane closures for
work on the SR 26 Mainline Improvement Project during the next week.

Monday, June 20, 2016 through Thursday, June 23, 2016 – Day Shift

Continue placing concrete for new curb on Route 26 from Powell Farm Road to Irons Lane.
Motorists should anticipate eastbound or westbound shifts on Route 26 between Powell Farm
Road and Irons Lane with both lanes getting through the work zone utilizing a flagging operation
by construction personnel from 07:00AM to 5:00PM.

Continue wedge and leveling on Route 26 at Powell Farm Road, Omar Road, Roxana Road,
Central Avenue and West Avenue. Motorists should anticipate lane shifts along Route 26 at
these intersections with both travel lanes getting through the work zone utilizing a flagging
operation by Law Enforcement and construction personnel from 07:00AM to 5:00PM.

Continue paving driveway entrances along Route 26 between Railway Road and Powell Farm
Road. Motorists should anticipate lane shifts along Route 26 in this corridor with both travel
lanes getting through the work zone utilizing a flagging operation by construction personnel
from 07:00AM to 5:00PM.

Begin profile milling on Route 26 from the Assawoman Canal towards Powell Farm Road.
Motorists should anticipate eastbound or westbound lane shifts along the Route 26 corridor with
both lanes getting through the work zone utilizing a flagging operation by Law Enforcement
construction personnel from 07:00AM to 5:00PM.
