Travel times to and from your destination may be quicker if you use one of the Route 26 Alternate Routes that were constructed prior to the start of the SR 26 Mainline Construction Project. The recently reconstructed roadways include:

• Burbage Road, from SR 17 to Windmill Drive
• Windmill Drive to SR 26 to Central Avenue
• Central Avenue, from Windmill Drive to Beaver Dam Road
• Beaver Dam Road, from Central Avenue to Muddy Neck Road

Below is an outline of the anticipated construction schedule and associated lane closures for work on the Route 26 Widening Project during the week.

Monday, December 15, 2014 through Friday December 19, 2014
Continue installation of the new sanitary sewer line along Route 26. Motorists should anticipate eastbound or westbound lane closures on Route 26 between Powell Farm Road and Irons Lane with traffic alternating through the work zone utilizing a flagging operation by construction personnel from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Begin paving on Route 26, east and west of Whites Neck Road. No lane closures are anticipated for this work. Motorists should anticipate periodic short term traffic stoppages as flaggers assist construction vehicles to safely enter and exit the work area from 07:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Complete miscellaneous construction activities along Route 26 between Woodland Avenue and Central Avenue. Motorists should anticipate eastbound and westbound lane shifts or lane closures on Route 26 between Woodland Avenue and Central Avenue with traffic alternating through the work zone and intersection utilizing a flagging operation by law enforcement and construction personnel and from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Continue the installation of conduits and junction boxes for the temporary traffic signals located at Central Avenue and Cedar Drive and Central Avenue and Windmill Drive.

Motorists should anticipate lane closures or lane shifts at both intersections with traffic alternating through the work zone and intersection utilizing a flagging operation by construction personnel and from 07:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Saw cut the existing roadway in preparation for the replacement of two small bridge structures along Route 26.

Motorists should anticipate eastbound or westbound lane closures on Route 26 at Clubhouse Road and Old School Lane with traffic alternating through the work zone and intersection utilizing a flagging operation by construction personnel and from 07:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Motorists should anticipate eastbound or westbound lane closures on Route 26 between Grants Avenue and Old School Lane with traffic alternating through the work zone utilizing a flagging operation from 9:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m.
